We do indeed live in a multicultural city. Great story in Tablet Magazine, an online zine, regarding a group of African Americans who believe they are the direct descendants of Ethiopians who they claim to be the actual and original Jews (“Jews were African”). They are not recognized by mainstream Judaism but despite this, follow all the commandments and miztvahs of the Torah.
Despite what you may hear in the news, now is actually an excellent time to visit New York City. As a lifelong New Yorker and professional tour guide, I can assure you—this city is still full of life, history, culture, and of course, incredible bagels.
